Mohammad al-Islambuli is the brother of Khalid al-Islambuli who assassinated former President Anwar al-Sadat in 1981 and was sentenced to death in absentia in 1992 for plotting from overseas to overthrow the state.
Mohammad al-Islambuli was allegedly instructed by the Iranian Government to leave Iran a month ago and was told he could travel to either Egypt or Pakistan. After failed attempts to enter Pakistan and Turkey due to personal health problems, al-Islambuli will now be travelling to Egypt in a week at the most, following tens of other Egyptian Islamists and their families who have also been deported from Iran.
He is currently sentenced to death in Egypt on terrorist charges though Yassin claims that the mother of the accused has recently met with delegates from the military and initiated a request for his pardon.
