It has been the same regime that conceded its own Coptic citizens to their church leaders as if they were people who have nothing to do with the nation and as if they were fundamentally belonging religiously and socio-politically to the church.
In this picture, unfortunately, the Coptic vote is being dealt with as a single entity in a way placing all Copts into one basket, partly because Christians were isolated and confined to their churches, which was exploited by the clergymen and blessed by the former regime.
Most likely, there will be directives, from the church in agreement with the expatriate Copts and figures involved with certain foreign agendas, that Coptic votes would go for advocates of a civil state against proponents of a religious state, which might seems logical in light of incidents by Islamist groups, namely on July 29, 2011.
This is, however, is so ridiculous; how come that we are all opposing the clerics' control over politics and yet we go for them to support a civil state?
