During the meeting held at the community's headquarter in Kubrī al-Qubah, Bishop Butrus Fahīm, deputy of the Catholic patriarch, stated that the church calls for positive political action and calls on Christians to participate in politics. He referred to the document of the Second Vatican Council, held in 1965, which confirms the church's role in the social and political lives of people, indicating that the authority should commit to ethical and legal values in managing public affairs. He also pointed out the citizens' right to defend themselves against any abuse by the authority.

He considered the Copts' fears of the elections as unjustified and their participation will force political parties to include them on their proportional lists because Christian votes are influential.
