Al-Azhar called on the Egyptian people for solidarity and self restraint, confirming previous calls to avoid all forms of violence and sabotage.

Grand Shaykh of the Azhar Dr. Ahmad al-Tayīb said in a statement on Monday evening that the blood of all Egyptians is too expensive to be shed, demanding a political solution to the situation.

He also called to maintain the peaceful nature of the protests, saying that al-Azhar is supporting the citizens' right to protests.
