The Coptic Church announced in a statement their refusal to be dragged into the elections. The statement came following a comment on one of the documents that was published under the name of the church, in which certain candidates were recommended that Copts vote for.

Archpriest Sergius Sergius, deputy of the patriarchate for administrative affairs, refused any attempts to drag the church's name into the elections battle.
