The Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt should rule through a national alliance comprising secular parties and Copts, said Rāshid al-Ghanūshī, the founder and leader of the Ennahda Movement, or the Renaissance Party in Tunisia.

Article full text:

Ghanūshī, whose Islamist party obtained a majority in the recent elections and formed the current government in Tunisia, said in an interview with U.S. magazine Foreign Policy that the political calculations in Egypt are more complex than that in Tunisia, taking into account the religious and ethnic minorities, in addition to a growing Salafī movement.

Ghanūshī warned of repeating the Algeria mistakes in Egypt when Islamists garnered 80% of the seats but ignored influential minorities of seculars and business sectors as well as the army, which brought them to turn against democracy and consequently caused a lot of suffering for the Algerian people until the present time.
