The Coptic Orthodox Church’s Holy Synod is holding on Thursday (November 21) its first meeting after the investiture of Pope Tawāḍrūs II as elections of the Synod’s secretariat and subcommittees will be held. 
Dr. Ḥasan al-Shāfʿī, Chairman of the Arabic Language Academy, who is also a representative of the Azhar in the panel, said the Azhar and the church are in agreement on the need to keep Article II of the constitution intact. 
The National Council for Women (NCW) refused some officials’ policies that “involve a clear orientation to isolate women from leading and executive posts either by denying them their rights to promotions to higher positions or by arbitrary switching to other places”.

The Azhar appealed to the people of Egypt to show keenness on their unity in these “critical circumstances the homeland is going through,” urging them to continue their dialogue over points of differences as a way to overcome the current problems.
